Jerry Jackintell is a professional in the financial industry with 35 years of experience in leadership positions. Currently, he is the owner of Evergreen Capital, an investment company founded in 2002. Jerry Jackintell also served for four years in the board of directors of Star Telecom, initiating the Star Telecom’s initial public offering (IPO), which was considered the most successful IPO in 1998.
An IPO refers to the process of offering shares of a private corporation in the public stock market. The company needs to be prepared for the public share issuance before undertaking an IPO by meeting some qualification factors.
The main requirement is to meet the necessary financial qualifications set by the stock exchange in which the company is going to list. The NASDAQ Global Select Market, for instance, requires at least $2 million in pre-tax earnings in each of the two most recent years and more than $11 million of pre-tax earnings when adding up the three prior fiscal years.
The New York Stock Exchange financial requirements are similar, with the difference being a total of $10 million of pre-tax earnings when adding up the three prior fiscal years. Other alternative listing standards are based on cash flow, revenue, and market cap for leading companies that do not meet the pre-tax earnings requirements.
